Kadoma City in Mash West Province is set to host the prestigious 2025 World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) commemorations on June 14 at a school to be made public.

National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) communications officer, Victoria Maponga confirmed this to The Midweek Watch and said preparations for the annual event are at an advanced stage.

“We are in the middle of preparations, and the name of the school hosting the event will be advised in due course,” said Mlilo.

World Blood Donor Day is a global event celebrated annually to raise awareness about the importance of safe blood donation and blood products.

It also serves to honor the voluntary, unpaid blood donors who make life-saving contributions.

Last year, the commemorations were held in Kwekwe at Kwekwe High School.

WBDD emphasizes the need for a reliable and safe blood supply, which is essential for a strong healthcare system.

Blood transfusions save lives during surgeries, accidents, giving birth and for individuals with blood disorders.

The event will feature a variety of activities and will involve invited schools from surrounding areas in Kadoma, who are expected to take part in the celebrations and blood donations.

The event is organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in collaboration with national health authorities and NBSZ.

The global theme for 2025 is yet to be made public by WHO.
