A heart breaking incident occurred yesterday along the Chivhu-Nyazura road, claiming the life of a seven year old girl.
Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson Assitant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the deceased as Beverly Chadyemhunga from Mungazi village in Nyazura.
The tragic accident happened around 07:30 hours when the driver of a red Shacman horse truck, Dennis Dishoni(40) of Hopley Waterfalls, Harare was driving along the Chivhu-Nyazura road with one passenger on board. As he approached the 160km peg, the young girl suddenly emerged from behind a stationary bus trying to cross the road, unfortunately she was hit by the truck.
“The juvenile sustained severe head injuries and died on the spot. The driver stopped approximately 50 meters away from the incident,” said Ass Insp Chinyoka.
The body of the deceased was taken to Rusape General Hospital and ZRP Rusape traffic attended the scene.
The provincial police spokesperson urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads.
