The heavens opened up and poured yesterdaynight, but for Shylet Chirimo and her family, it was a nightmare, while sleeping at her 4923 Area 3 house in Dangamvura.

The heavy rains that started this morning around 3am showed no mercy, breaking through the perimeter wall at a house opposite Chirimo’s causing floods.
“I was sleeping with my four children when around 3am water started gushing in. we had to run out of the house in a hurry. The toilet, the door and one of the bedrooms were completely destroyed. Our clothes, food, fridge, blankets and even property were all soaked in water. We do not know what to do,” recalled Chirimo, her voice shaking.

The family is now left with nowhere to go and is desperately seeking help.
Another tenant at the house whose property was also soaked by the sudden downpour also appealing for help.
“I just hope we can get some help soon. It is tough but we are trying to stay positive,” said Thelma Muranda.
Sources privy to the goings-on told The Midweek Watch that the opposite house had some water tanks filled to capacity and when the rains flooded the yard, the tanks broke the perimeter wall resulting in the disaster.

The local community in Dangamvura is rallying around the family, providing some support, but more is needed.
