5 people die at Fern Valley accident

MUTARE-A kombi that was trying to avoid a collision with an overtaking haulage truck at a curve near Fern Valley turn off plunged into river killing five people on the spot at around 5pm today.
This reporter passed through the accident scene while in a bus travelling from Masvingo and there were onlookers who had swamped the place with some rendering assistance.
National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident that happened at the 8km peg along Mutare-Chimanimani Road.
Well-wishers were seen trying to break open the kombi that was in the river to retrieve bodies and those who were injured were ferried to hospitals by ambulances that reacted quickly to calls for assistance.
