MILLICENT HUNGWE
In a thrilling display of speed, agility, and teamwork, Masvingo City based Junior Primary School emerged victorious at the elite schools’ athletics competitions held at Parkview Junior School in Gweru last Friday.

The annual athletics event drew participants from six top schools in the region, including Parkview Junior School (Gweru), Paradise Junior School (Kwekwe), Lingfield School, Orchids School, Mberengwa Junior, and Junior Primary School.
A contingent of 80 students from Junior Primary School took part in the track and field events, showcasing their athletics prowess.

Their hard work paid off, as they amassed an impressive haul of 37 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and 24 bronze medals.
Paradise Primary School secured the second spot, a notable achievement in its own right.
However, it was Junior Primary School’s remarkable improvement from last year’s fourth-place finish that stole the spotlight.

The school’s total medal count surged from 21 in the previous edition to a staggering 83 medals this year.
Noah Marima, Managing Director of Junior Holdings, was overjoyed by the school’s triumph.
“I’m over the moon, our students have made us proud, and their improvement from last year’s fourth place to this year’s top spot is a testament to their dedication, determination and perseverance,” he exclaimed.

“We would like to express our gratitude to our Director, Mr. Marima, for his support in providing improved training facilities. Through his dedication and our hard work, we were able to achieve first position.
“We would also like to thank the parents who traveled from Harare and Masvingo to support their children,” added Sports Director Jimmy Makwanda.
Junior Primary is becoming a force to reckon with in the education sector since its establishment a few years ago in the ancient city.
