HARARE- President Mnangagwa has re-assigned three cabinet ministers with immediate effect this Wednesday, shortly after the first cabinet meeting of 2026 on Tuesday.
In a press statement issued this Wednesday evening, the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya announced the re-assignment of Jenfan Muswere from the the powerful Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services to the obscure Ministry of Skills Audit and Development.
Muswere succeeds Professor Paul Mavima who has been re-assigned to the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities.
Zhemu Soda who has been very quite for long time has been re-assigned from the Ministry of National Housing and Social Amenities to the more visible Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
“In terms of Section 104, Subsection (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde. Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has re-assigned the under-listed Ministers as follows: Hon. Dr. Jenfan Muswere: Minister of Skills and Development, Hon Prof. Paul Mavima: Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, Hon. Dr Zhemu Soda: Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services,” reads the statement.
The reason behind re-shuffling these three Cabinet Ministers remained unclear by the time of going to print.
The re-shuffling comes hard on the heels of Constitutional amendment proposal presented during the first cabinet meeting of 2026 yesterday (Tuesday) that seeks to extend President Mnangagwa’s tenure by two years until 2030 among other sweeping changes.
