Bikita Minerals confirmed ZIFA ERSL champions
The Eastern Region Soccer League 2023 soccer season ended on November 19, 2023 with
Tenax Football Club finishing on top of the log with 59 points. However, there was a
pending case involving one of the teams which was in the championship race.
The conferment of champions was put on hold due to this matter
The ERSL board convened a meeting on Saturday 25 November 2023 at Golden Peacock
Hotel in Mutare to deliberate on the matter and all the involved parties were present.
ERSL board carefully went through all the written submissions and oral presentations
from involved parties.
The board then came up with a decision as outlined by the ERSL rules and regulations.
Bikita Minerals FC were awarded the three points after finding out that Grayham FC used
an unregistered player as confirmed at the meeting.
Bikita Minerals were awarded three points according to rule number 13.1
Grayham FC had three points deducted for using an unregistered player since it is a
breach of rule 14.1.6 of the ERSL rules and regulations and also rule 13.2.
Grayham FC were fined for their action. Bikita Minerals on the other hand were fined for
assaulting match officials at the end of their league match.
The awarding of three points to Bikita Minerals FC changed the log standing which then
makes Bikita Minerals log leaders and eventually becoming the 2023 ERSL champions,
