GWERU URBAN-Ward 5 Zanu PF aspiring councillor, Kwanisai Mafa has pledged to sing the development song for Senga if elected back into office next week on August 23.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch in an interview yesterday, Mafa who is contesting to retain his seat as councillor said he was happy to report back to the residents on progress on a number of development projects that he started.
“I am glad to speak on a number of developments which have taken shape in my ward ever since I got into power as this speaks to the efforts being done by the Second Republic in championing development at grassroots level.
“On drainage clearance, we managed to remove all the waste which had accumulated in most of our drainages across the ward. Work is still in progress as we really want to make sure that no area is left behind.
“Our roads and transport systems have also seen significant changes as compared to back then. We managed to patch all the potholes.
“Its true much work needs to be done, but we are going to be engaging management at Council so that we re do our roads.
“As we approach the rain season we want all our roads in Senga to be in good shape. Roads such as KMP and CBZ are now good. We even engaged ZUPCO so that it plies to CBZ and KMP because the roads are now accessible.
“Moreso we are removing illegal dump sites which are hotspots for all diseases. Creation of proper dumping sites starts with each and every resident as cleanliness is everyone’s priority.” Mafa added.
Mafa however, castigated effects of drug abuse in the community saying there was need to empower youths.
“My view is that as your councillor, lets empower people with projects to occupy them, clubs can help our people to stay away from drugs and substance abuses.
“Young people need to get recreational facilities to keep them busy and fight against drug busy.
” I am happy I managed to rehabilitate the GG soccer pitch as well as establishing a boxing academy at Ingwe Hall.
“To see that the academy is a community thing, business people in Senga donated towards the academy and we have two instructors who are currently coaching young people boxing,” he added.
Mafa however highlighted significant transformation which took place at Senga Secondary school after the establishment of a library.
“I made sure for the first time Senga Secondary School benefit from MSU Book donation scheme of 600 text books.
“During my tenure I also donated 50 bags of cement at Senga Secondary School again. This show that as a leader I prioritize the education of upcoming generations, our leaders for tomorrow
“Not forgetting our churches as every church is to own a stand and build its own infrastructure in Senga,” he added.
Zanu PF Gweru DCC secretary for lnformation, Victor Maride said as a party they were moving in line with President Mnangagwa ‘s mantra and vision of living no one and no place behind.
“In Zanu PF we leave no one and no place behind. We are moving towards attaining vision 2030 as the President is driving key developmental projects. So, vote President Emmerson Mnangagwa for President, Vote Dr Alex Mukwembi for Member of Parliament and Vote Councillor Mafa for ward 5,” said Maride.
