Zimbabwean pugilist Brendon Denes aka Boika has vowed to destroy his Malawian opponent as he faces off against Dickson Saidi in an electrifying rematch on June 29 in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The bout, sanctioned by Youth Boxing Promotions in Malawi’s Salimu Chazama, will be an 8-round thriller.
Boika’s comeback fight is fueled by the financial backing of Masvingo businessman Allan Sibanda, who has footed the bill for the Zimbabwean’s travel and training expenses.
“I was scheduled to travel by road, but through Allan’s sponsorship I was given the luxury of flying to Malawi, I promise to deliver a knockout performance and make my sponsor proud as that is the only way I can repay him,” said Denes.
The Malawian showdown will be a rematch between Boika and Saidi, who previously clashed in Zimbabwe in 2023.
Boika won the match on points, but this time he promised to deliver a knock out.
Saidi’s record stands at 9 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws, but Boika is confident of landing a decisive blow.
“I am looking to knock Saidi out cold and prove my mettle as a top contender,” he added.
“Allan’s support has been instrumental in my preparation, and I am determined to make him proud,” Boika said.
The Zimbabwean boxer has previously benefited from sponsorship deals, including a stint with DocZine company and previously he was sponsored by Sibanda in Harare where he achieved a stunning knockout.
Boika’s professional record now stands at 13 wins, 4 losses, and no draws.
