MASVINGO CITY-A year into the cutthroat world of modelling 20-year-old Mufaro Grace Maushe has done the unthinkable, being crowned Masvingo Province 2025 Miss ZICOSU queen.

For her efforts Grace walked away with a cash prize of $1000 and a brand new car, Kia Selsos.

Mufaro began modelling in April 2024 initially just “trying her luck,” but soon discovered her true passion and talent for the craft.

Currently, she is a student teacher at Masvingo Teachers’ College and been balancing well her education with her growing responsibilities as a role model.

Reflecting on her win as Miss ZICOSU 2025 Maushe said, “I was truly happy to be crowned Miss ZICOSU but the car was something I never expected. I couldn’t believe it until my parents came to pick it up. I cried when my mom hugged me, it was such an emotional moment.”

Her motivation comes from a desire to represent and inspire others, especially young women while breaking down common misconceptions about modeling.

 “Many people misunderstand modeling and pageantry. They don’t see the dedication, talent, confidence, resilience and leadership it requires to uplift others,” she explains.

Maushe faced many challenges during her journey including shortages of outfits and money for transport to rehearsals but her determination helped her overcome these obstacles.

Balancing schoolwork with her role as Miss ZICOSU, she believes her educational background aids her work with youth, emphasizing that modeling requires discipline, a quality naturally found in teachers.

As Miss ZICOSU, Maushe’s work is cut out;

“I want to inspire young girls and women to pursue their passions, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation. I will use my platform to advocate for positive change and showcase Zimbabwe’s beauty and talent, starting from my hometown, Masvingo.”

To aspiring models and pageant, Maushe said “Believe in yourself, work hard, stay true to your values and be patient. Use your platform to uplift others and make a positive impact. It’s not just about winning, it’s about the journey and the people you inspire along the way.”

Maushe ends with an open offer. “Anyone who needs help, your very own Miss ZICOSU is here.”
