A 57-year-old headmaster in Hurungwe will spend three years in jail after being convicted by the Karoi Magistrates’ Court for having sex with a form 2 student aged 14.
The accused had numerous sexual encounters with the minor from May 2024 to April 2025, according to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ).
“A 57 -year-old headmaster from Magunje, Hurungwe has been sentenced to three years in jail by the Karoi Magistrates Court for having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old minor who is a form 2 student,” reads the NPAZ bulletin.
The NPAZ said the accused headmaster is the one who approached the victim in May 2024 and asked her the phone number, which she shared with him.
He later called the victim that same evening, promising all niceties of life if she agreed to be his wife.
He called the victim the following day and told her to come to his office. They later went to his stand where he had protected sex with the victim in his car.
“The circumstances of the case are that, sometime in May 2024, the offender approached the victim and asked for her phone number, which she gave him. The offender then called the victim that same evening, complimented her beauty and promised her heaven on earth if she agreed to be his wife.
“The following day, the offender called the victim to his office and forced her to go with him to his stand where he parked his vehicle, removed her clothes and had protected sexual intercourse with her at the back of his car,” said NPAZ.
The matter came to light in April 2025 after the victim’s sister noticed a new cellphone in possession of the victim and a bunch of pills and informed their mother.
“The victim was taken to the police, where she revealed the multiple sexual encounters with the offender.”
