MIDWEEK REPORTER
HARARE-The late Simbarashe Huni estate saga which has been raging on since last year is set for finalisation at the Master of the High Court of Zimbabwe in Harare on April 28 this Friday when the parties meet at 11:30am.
In a letter in our possession the office of the Master of the High Court invited late Huni’s second wife Trish Mashiri Huni, Mugwazi Executor Services, Chihambakwe Law Chambers, Saratoga Makausi Law Chambers and Emma Huni Ncube.
“Pursuant to the meeting held at our office on the 16th of February 2023 and subsequent filling of written submissions from the parties in regards to the complaints, our office has come up with a resolution to the matter at hand. In this regard we have convened a meeting on the 28th of April 2023 at 11:30am to enable us to explain our position.
“Kindly attend together with the next of kin and any interested parties,” reads the letter signed by D. Gutu from the office of the Master of the High Court.
Huni who was a top official in the President’s Office died in 2021 at the peak of COVID-19 pandemic and left vast properties and wealth which included sugarcane farms in Chiredzi and some mines in Masvingo Province.
Mugwazi was appointed executor, but the second wife raised a number of queries in the way he handled the estate, she alleged the executor overstated his fees and concealed some properties and vehicles belonging to the estate.
Mashiri went on to report the executor to the Master of the High Court in Zimbabwe based in Masvingo, Hazvineyi Pasvani, but she felt the two were working in cahoots as the matter dragged on and on.
Mashiri went on to report the two to the Master in Harare who has set a date to finalise the issue which has been raging on since last year.
A lawyer who spoke to The Midweek Watch said if the parties are not happy with the Friday’s outcome they can appeal to the High Court for a review, but expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Master in Harare whom he described as fare minded.
