House breaker with 12 cases nabbed in Zvishavane

ZVISHAVANE- Gift Frank Hungwe of Village Qedilizwe, Chief Mafala in Zvishavane has been apprehended by the police in Zvishavane after a spree of more than 12 alleged unlawful entries and theft.

His arrest has been confirmed by a police memo in the hands of this publication.

Circumstances are that on 16 April 2023 and at around 4pm detectives received information to the effect that Jenita Moyo was selling some groceries suspected to have been stolen at her residence.

Pursuant to the information, detectives proceeded to house number 2896 Forit houses, Zvishavane where the accused person resides. Searches were conducted in her two rooms and several goods comprising electrical gadgets, blankets, clothes and food stuffs were recovered from her.

Detectives challenged her to produce proof of ownership of the said property, but she had none.

On being questioned the accused told the detectives that Hungwe brought the said property on different occasions from the year 2021 to date as gifts for her.

Hungwe is a boyfriend to Jenita Moyo but she does not know his physical address in Zvishavane.

She also told the investigating officers that Hungwe at one time served a jail term and is not employed.

Efforts are in progress to collate all reported unlawful entry and theft cases at both business and residential areas. Also, efforts are in progress to have an outreach program to members of the community to identify the recovered property.

The recovery property has an estimated value of US$5000-00.

 Acting on a tip off the Police arrested Hungwe on 17 May 2023 at his rural home.

Hungwe led detectives to his rural home where various electrical goods, blankets and kitchen utensils were recovered.

The accused person has since helped in clearance of 13 cases of unlawful entry and theft.

House hold goods comprising 07 heavy duty lithium batteries, amplifiers, 03 heavy duty solar panels, inverters, 02home theaters, plasma television, blankets, laptops, gas stoves, gas tanks, clothing of various types, carpets and shoes remain unidentified and unclaimed.

The total value of recovered goods is US$60 000.  

The Case is being investigated under ZRP CRs Zvishavane 28/08/22, 44/10/22, 327/10/22, 347/10/22, 56/02/22, 114/02/23, 23/10/22, 259/03/22, 20/03/23 19/04/23, 259/04/23.
