Horror Kwekwe crash victims names made public

KWEKWE-The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released eight names of the twelve people who perished in horror road traffic accident near Sebakwe River at the 200-kilometre peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Highway on Tuesday.

National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident in a statement.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police releases the names of eight of the twelve victims who died as a result of the accident.  The victims were identified by their next of kin as listed:

. James Ncube (23) a male adult of number 44 village 12, Sherwood, Kwekwe.

.Marvellous Mapanzure (20) a male adult of Indarama Mine, Kwekwe

. Emilly Mpofu (25), a female adult of plot 27, Sherwood, Kwekwe

. Joshua Muza (35) a male adult of Indarama Mine, Kwekwe. Reward Nyatsongo (28) a male adult of Village 7 Marivel, Kwekwe

. Farai Bisendi (47), a female adult of number 19363, Mbizo 16, Kwekwe

. Emmanuel Mangomana (21), a male adult of Kwekwe

. Maria Jasi (43), a female adult of number 9371 Mbizo 16 Extension, Kwekwe.

“The bodies of four female victims are yet to be identified,” he said.

He urged members of the public with missing relatives to conduct ZRP Kwekwe District Operations on (055) 24543 or National Complaints Desk on (0242) 70 3631 or WhatsApp on 0712800197.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa has declared the accident as a national disaster.

The declaration allows the government to assist with the burial of the victims and provide support to those who were injured and hospitalised.
