HARARE- A 20 year-old homeless man who allegedly murdered five people in separate incidents and feasted on their flesh has been arrested in Harare.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 5 September 2023, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the arrest of Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu for alleged murder of five homeless people in Harare’s Central Business District (CBD).

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Thandolwenkosi Ndlovu (20), alias Sauro, in connection with five cases of murder which occurred in Harare Central Business District between 28th August 2023 and 4th September 2023,” reads the ZRP statement.

The suspect crushed fast asleep street kids and opened the victims’ stomach to remove genitals and other body parts using empty broken bottles.

“The suspect who is believed to be living in the streets would target “street kids” who will be fast asleep and crush them and open the victims’ stomach to remove genitals and other body parts using empty broken bottles.

“The suspect would then boil or braai the human parts on any open fire place and consume them while in the Harare Central Business District,” further reads the statement.

He was tracked by police detectives on the 4th of September 2023 along Rotten Row Road in Harare after he allegedly tried to attack a street kid who did not make a police report.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the suspect has been linked to three murder cases committed in Bulawayo where he crushed the victims’ head in 2020.
