MASVINGO-A 28 year old man of no fixed aboard has been sentenced to four years imprisonment for sleeping with an under aged girl at Croco Motors for nine continous days.
Nixon Chamisa who prosecuted the case told Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi that Joseph Mangezi slept with the minor girl of no fixed abord as well from January 11 to 19 this year every night until an anonymous report was made to the Police leading to the arrest of the man.
It was the State case that Mangezi proposed love to the girl whom he had met in the park at the Civic Centre at noon and she accepted and on January 11 at night he went to the Railways area to collect his blankets and he gave one of them to the girl.
The two slept seperately for some few hours and Mangezi woke up and invited the girl to share the blankets and they had consensual sex.
Since that night they were having sex at the same spot at night until one man reported the offense to the Police.
Mangezi was arrested and charged for having sex with a young person as defined in the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act.
He was sentenced on February 10, 2023 and the Magistrate suspended two years of the four years for five years.
