Hit pedestrian dies while trapped under a car

Gweru- An unidentified pedestrian died while trapped under a car as he could not be retrieved from beneath the vehicle after being hit along the Harare – Bulawayo Highway while crossing the road last Tuesday.

 Lungisani Siziba(39) of Harare was driving a Mercedes Benz Vehicle towards Harare. upon reaching the 267 km peg, he hit the pedestrian and he got trapped under the car and later died on the spot.

A report was made at Zimbabwe Republic Police Gweru Traffic and investigations are underway to identify the deceased man who was wearing blue jean trousers, white jersey and farmers shoes. His body is at Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, on March 7, 2023 at around 12pm a four year old was hit by a truck while crossing the road to be with his schoolmates.

Walter Chinyaka (36) was driving a Green truck along Gokwe Siabuwa road towards Gokwe centre when he hit the juvenile who was running to join his school mates on the other side of the road

The juvenile was rushed to Gokwe South District  Hospital were he is admitted.

Midlands Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the two accidents.

“We appeal to members of the public who might be missing a relative matching the given clothes description to check with the police.

“We also urge pedestrian to crosscheck both sides of the road before crossing,” said Mahoko.
