Hippo Primary fund raises for modern learning equipment

-New Head ready to soar

Privately owned Hippo Valley Estate Primary in Chiredzi has set its sights on becoming the leading technology primary school in the lowveld region by fundraising for state of the art learning equipment.

Hippo Valley Estates Primary School head, Julie Madzudzo told The Midweek Watch that they want to make their institution the envy of many by embracing smart technology and the first port of call is the fundraising day for the smart interactive board.

The smart interactive board allow teachers and pupils to participate in activities together, which gives them the opportunity to work on school work as a team, it also allows users to edit in real time with a finger or special pen.

“We are going to hold a fundraising day on February 17 to raise funds to buy a state of the art interactive smart board for our learners and teachers.

“We are targeting to raise over US$5 000 on the day, where we are charging US$20 per head and US$40 for a couple.

“The event will be held at the school premises as part of Valentine’s Day and will start at 2pm, it’s an event not to miss as there will be a lot of activities on the day, like braai, cash bar, fun games, tug of war, prizes for the best dressed couple as you know February is the month of love.

“The fundraising day will run under the theme; ‘Rustic Romance’ and the dress code is cowboys and dames. The event is open to everyone and people should come in their numbers to raise money for a worthy cause,” said Madzudzo.

She also said she is on a mission to improve the infrastructure at the school especially the technology side of things.

“We want our learners to go on the internet hassle free using the board and we want to be a top notch school in sports, academic and culture,” she added.

Hippo Valley Estates Primary School was established in 1986 and has grown in leaps and bounds to become one of the best learning institutions in the lowveld.

The school has an enrolment of 240 learners from ECD A to grade 7 and has 12 teachers.

In the 2023 grade 7 ZIMSEC exams the school posted a 100% pass rate signaling its dominance in the academic field as it was the best in Chiredzi District.

Madzudzo went to Masvingo Teachers College and started teaching in 1998.

The veteran educationist has taught at, Riverside Primary, Lusitania Primary, Westridge Primary all in Harare, Rydings Primary in Karoi, Wiseowl, Hilcrest in Mutare and Wiseowl where she was the deputy head before she moved to Hippo Valley Estates as head.

Madzudzo among other qualifications holds a Masters in Education Leadership, Management and Development and Masters in Development Studies.
