Masvingo City- The trial of Masvingo business mogul, Naison Madyambwa who is facing allegations of defrauding a United Kingdom based investor of nearly US$60 000 in a botched mining claim deal finally kicked off at the Masvingo Magistrate Court.

Madyambwa who runs one of the most successful tyre, haulage and vehicle servicing companies in the ancient city made his initial court appearance before Magistrate Elizabeth Hanzi on Wednesday.

He was remanded out of custody to Monday 29 April for continuation of trial.

Madyambwa is being represented by veteran Masvingo lawyer Charles Ndlovu of Ndlovu and Hwacha Legal Practitioners.

Allegations against the business man arose sometime last year when he allegedly duped, Achidaishe Mundzingwa, who resides in UK, US$59 000 after promising her that he could secure a gold mining claim on her behalf

The investor went on to send money to the local Mudyambwa via World Remit money transfer services, but the businessman converted the money to his personal use .

The matter only came to light when Mudzingwa arrived in Masvingo early this year and was never shown the purchased gold claim, and Madyambwa became evasive over the matter.

She later realised that she had been duped and made a police report leading to the arrest of the businessman.
