Prominent Masvingo City business mogul, Naison Madyambwa who also runs arguably the biggest tyre company in the ancient city, Hiepeg was this week arrested for allegedly defrauding a United Kingdom based woman of US$59 000 in a botched mining claim deal.

Madyambwa spent one night in police cells after he was arrested on Wednesday before making a cameo appearance at the Masvingo Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the arrest of the flamboyant businessman.

“I can confirm the matter, but at the moment I don’t have the details, call me after 10 mins,” said Dhewa, but he was no longer picking up his phone until the time of posting the story.

The Midweek Watch made a follow up with the Masvingo Courts and found out that the prosecutor referred the docket back to the police for further investigations.

Sources told this publication that Hiepeg allegedly dupped one, Achidaishe Mudzingwa of US$59 000 after promising her that he could secure a gold mine claim for her.

Sources said Mudzingwa sent the money via World Remit, but Madyambwa allegedly converted the money into his own personal use, mainly buying new fleet for his transport business.

However, some sources said the woman in question is bitter after Madyambwa ditched her and she is out to fix him.

More details to follow……….
