Herdboy stabs Chivi woman, on the run

CHIVI-A 58-year-old woman from Chief Nemauzhe area in Chivi survived a stabbing attack after she was allegedly assaulted by her herdboy during a dispute at her homestead.

The suspect, Prosper Kata allegedly attacked Lucia Chisungo on March 7 at around 2300 hours after waking her up and asking her to close the goat pen.

According to reports, Kata who was employed as a herdboy at Chisungo’s homestead, confronted her about remarks she had allegedly made to his family accusing him of being rude.

After Chisungo closed the goat pen and was walking back to the house, the suspect allegedly waylaid her and produced a knife.

He reportedly stabbed her once on the forehead, once on the right eyebrow and once at the back of the head.

Despite the attack, Chisungo managed to escape and ran back into the house.

A few minutes later, Kata allegedly returned and demanded cash. Chisungo reportedly opened a window and handed him US$30 before he fled from the scene.

Masvingo Province ZRP spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident.

His whereabouts are currently unknown.
