Masvingo- The Zimbabwe Catholic Bishops’ Conference has said the Roman Catholic national jubilee celebrations for youth scheduled for Rusape, have been moved to Masvingo Diocese due to health concerns.

The change of venue was announced after a crucial meeting held on April 5, 2025, where concerns were raised about the health and safety of attendees.

ZCBC National Coordinator for Laity and Youth Fr Johane Maseko revealed that a report from the Environmental Health Officer of Rusape presented during the meeting confirmed that the venue was not capable of hosting the national program.

“The report from the environmental health officer of Rusape showed us that with the given time we are not capable of hosting the congress,” said Father Maseko.

In light of this the pilgrimage and celebrations of the jubilee for the youth will now be held at St. Patrick’s Gokomere Mission in Masvingo Diocese from 24-27 April 2025. This change ensures that the health concerns raised earlier are addressed, providing a safe and conducive environment for all attendees.

To spiritually prepare for the celebrations Father Maseko has advised all to participate in a Novena which will begin on 16 April 2025.

This (Novena) period of prayer and reflection will help participants to deepen their faith and come together in a spirit of unity and joy.
