MSVINGO-Hamutyinei Harare (47) from Kwangware Village under Chief Mazuru in Gutu is on the run after he allegedly axed his neighbour to death in cold blood for cursing him.
Harare allegedly killed his neighbour Phillips Mushanyuri (49) on June 3 last week and Police are looking for him for murder.
Masvingo Provincial Police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the tragedy and said they are looking for the accused who is at large.
Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that on June 03 at around 7pm, Mushanyuri was coming from Mapindimbi open market in Bhasera and passed through Harare’s homestead when he started cursing and insulting the accused who was sitting outside his yard.
Harare warned Mushanyuri against cursing him and told him to leave immediately for hi home before causing trouble, but the latter continued with his behaviour which angered the accused who got into hi bedroom and brought an axe upon which he followed and caught up with the deceased who was already out of his yard and struck him once on the head with it.
The deceased fell down and died on the spot and the accused ran away from the scene.
The accused’s wife Susan Mutsikwa who had heard the noise and tried to stop his husband went on to report the case to the police station.
