GWERU-A GWERU City Council (GCC) employee collapsed and died upon admission at Gweru Provincial Hospital yesterday.
Local authority’s public relations officer Vimbai Chingwaramusee confirmed the tragedy.
“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend Mr Phillip Chapanduka, who passed on at Gweru Provincial Hospital. Details of the funeral arrangements will be shared,” she said.
According to well-placed sources, Chapanduka collapsed when he was operating a front end loader in Gokwe where a team of Gweru City Council was deployed to maintain roads in the district ahead of this year’s Independence Day Commemorations.
Chapanduka was rushed to Gokwe Hospital and was transferred to Gweru Provincial Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon admission.
