Gweru- A senior Gweru Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) officer, Makopa Manyadze, has been granted $100 bail by regional Magistrate Christopher Maturure.
Manyadze, 45, was arraigned before the courts for allegedly raping a 20-year-old woman in Gweru on June 23, 2025.
According to the state case, the incident occurred around 10am when the complainant was at home alone.
Manyadze, who had earlier instructed the woman to bathe, arrived at her residence and ordered her to come closer to him.
When the complainant refused, Manyadze reportedly grabbed her by the waist and started fondling her breasts.
The state further alleges that Manyadze then threw the complainant on the bed, overpowered her, and had unprotected sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
After the incident, Manyadze instructed the complainant to dress up and open the gate for him, which she complied.
The matter was later reported to the police by the complainant’s mother, after the complainant informed her twin sister, who is based in Bulawayo, about the assault, leading to the arrest of the accused.
Manyadze was ordered not to interfere with the state witnesses and to continue residing at the residential address on record.
His trial date has been set for July 22.
