GWERU- The City of Gweru (GCC) has thrown its weight behind the upcoming Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke, viewing it as a key platform for wellness, community development, and economic growth.

Gweru City Council spokesperson Vimbai Chingwaramuse said the partnership will help foster community togetherness, promote healthy lifestyles, and create opportunities for local enterprises.
“With this collaboration, we hope to attract tourists, generate income, and create employment while improving the quality of life for our residents,” she said.
Slated for November 6 to 8, the tour, launched in 2016, is Zimbabwe’s premier multi-stage cycling event, traversing the mineral-rich Great Dyke and raising funds for the Gifted Children Foundation, which supports the education of underprivileged children.
Running under the theme “Riding for Opportunity, Wellness and Charity,” the 2025 edition emphasises the importance of physical and mental wellbeing while also focusing on community empowerment and philanthropy.
With the Great Dyke accounting for over 60% of Zimbabwe’s mining revenue, the event also serves as a platform to promote investment and collaboration. Sponsors will have opportunities to interact with thousands of residents through vibrant activations in towns and cities along the route.
Since its inception, the Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke has evolved into more than just a sporting event — it has become a symbol of unity, endurance, and community development, blending business and social responsibility along Zimbabwe’s mineral heartland.
