GWERU- Two Gweru artisanal miners have been sentenced to a combined 70 years in prison for the murder of Victor Chivese in 2024.

The sentences were handed down by Justice Munamato Mutevedzi at the High Court circuit sitting in Gweru.

Samuel Sithole (20) of Woodlands Park Phase 2, and Evidence Tapiwa Tafirei (29) of Mkoba 4, each received an effective 35-year prison term.

According to the court records, the brutal incident occurred on November 16th at around 3am, at Mkoba 6 Shumba night club.

The two convicts, along with Tawanda Siyagumbo, who is still at large, accosted the deceased and engaged in a heated argument.

The court heard that the two stabbed Chivese and the incident was witnessed by a ZRP (Zimbabwe Republic Police) patrol unit, which promptly pursued and arrested Sithole.
