The Municipality of Gwanda is preparing to organise the Mayor’s Annual Boxing Tournament and Health Expo on November 29 at Pelandaba Stadium.

This initiative, led by Mayor Cllr Thulani Moyo, aims to promote community engagement through a multifaceted approach combining sports, health advocacy, and entertainment.
The tournament is scheduled to commence at 07:00 and extend throughout the day. It will feature a series of competitive boxing matches, a colour walk/run, Zumba sessions, Box Fit classes, and additional wellness activities. Participants in the colour walk/run will be provided with a complimentary t-shirt for a nominal fee of $5, while children can partake in the activities for just $2.
Mayor Moyo emphasised that this event is a reflection of his commitment to advancing sports development and enhancing community cohesion in Gwanda.
His progressive urban management strategies are evident in several initiatives aimed at infrastructural improvement, particularly the modernisation of the town’s bus terminus into a state-of-the-art travel centre, as well as the enhancement of vendors’ markets. These projects illustrate his vision for a cleaner, more organised, and economically robust urban environment.
The Mayor’s Annual Boxing Tournament and Health Expo is anticipated to draw a significant turnout, with provisions for vendor and exhibitor stalls. Additionally, the event will incorporate various entertainment segments, reinforcing Gwanda’s status as a vibrant centre for community-oriented activities.
By facilitating this event, Mayor Moyo continues to demonstrate his adherence to the overall well-being and development of Gwanda’s citizens, promoting healthy lifestyles and fostering a strong sense of community. The Municipality of Gwanda encourages full participation from residents and stakeholders to capitalise on the opportunities presented by this event.
