During the lecture, Minister Chadzamira pledged to contribute 30,000 bricks towards the ongoing construction of the RCU’s Pavilion, a vital project aimed at improving the campus facilities.

The public lecture was organised by the Zanu PF aligned ZICOSU at the RCZ run institution.

Chadzamira bemoaned the alarming rise in drug and substance abuse among students. He urged the youth to remain vigilant and proactive, emphasizing the importance of reporting any wrongdoing within their communities.

His message was one of hope, as he expressed unwavering confidence in the ability of students to steer the nation toward a prosperous future. He highlighted that the commitment and innovative spirit of the younger generation are crucial for Zimbabwe’s developmental trajectory.

The public lecture unfolded under the compelling theme, “Leaving No One and No Place Behind: Towards a Student-Empowered Upper-Middle-Income Economy by 2030,” which aimed to inspire tertiary students and young intellectuals in contributing to the ambitious 2030 Agenda.

Rev. Dr. Ezekiel Baloyi, the Moderator of the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe (RCZ) and Chancellor of RCU, took the opportunity to stress the university’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and engaging with the community. He articulated the institution’s mission to cultivate students who embody the African philosophy of unhu or ubuntu, characterized by values of integrity, humanity, and a commitment to Christian values.

Blessed Mlenga, the ZICOSU Masvingo Provincial Chairman, reflected on the pivotal role that students play in driving national progress. He underscored the myriad opportunities available for young people to advance themselves and the nation.

The event attracted a distinguished assembly of dignitaries, including the Permanent secretary for provincial affairs Addmore Pazvakavambwa, the RCZ Moderator and Chancellor, various deans and chancellors from other educational institutions, alongside hundreds of engaged students representing diverse backgrounds and institutions.

In a rallying call, Charles Munganasa, the deputy secretary for local government ZANU PF National Youth League, implored students to recognize their crucial role in shaping Zimbabwe’s future, urging them to be active participants in national development and transformation.
