MASVINGO – Police in Masvingo have arrested Angeline Dzikorehondo (28), in connection with a chilling case of infanticide that occurred in Mafusire Village, under Chief Mazuru in Gutu District, on November 15.

According to reports, Dzikorehondo allegedly gave birth to a baby boy and, shortly after delivery, strangled the newborn to death.

She is then said to have wrapped the infant’s body in a sack and dumped it in a nearby bushy area in an attempt to conceal the crime.

National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect has since been arrested and is assisting police with investigations.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon facing charges of infanticide.

Meanwhile, police and social services continue to urge expecting mothers facing difficulties to seek help through legal and health channels, including clinics, hospitals, and counselling services.
