MASVINGO-Renowned Masvingo based top poet Ngoni Paradza popularly known as Mambo Guramatunhu by his legions of followers is using poetry to tackle political violence which mostly associated with elections in the country.

The spoken word piece called ‘Hapana’ which was released on March 12 and is available on Mambo Guramatunhu YouTube channel carries a message of political peace and tolerance.

Guramatunhu said he decided to do the piece as people have a tendency to put politics first before anything else yet there is always life after politics.

“My message is that as a nation we must be careful and value life. We must no put our lives in line for the sake of politics. Let those who are benefitting from the violence do the act, let those earning a living out of politics do the dirty job.

“We must be each other’s keeper and never allow outsiders to divide us because of a vote. As a poetry King I want peace in my country and whoever will tell you to fight each other is your enemy.

“Let us avoid any form of political violence, for we are Zimbabweans before politics. We want peace and tolerance during the 2023 harmonised elections,” her said.

Guramatunhu who declined to reveal his political affiliation said this poem is not directed to a particular individual or party, but is meant to raise awareness to the nation at large.

“This poem is not directed at any political party but it speaks to the general population with a message of peace. If you are not careful you will lose your life for nothing.

“At leadership level in politics there are no permanent enemies and friends, for example we once had an inclusive government, but before that families and households were destroyed through political violence. It is time we wake up and refrain from political violence to save lives as there will be life after elections,” he added.
