The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested two Form 4 boys from Masasi High School in Bocha, Mutare District, in connection with a viral video showing the disturbing sexual abuse of a Form 1 girl.

The arrests were made on September 28 around 5:30 PM, following widespread outrage on social media and demands for swift justice.

The video, which circulated widely online, shows the boys allegedly fondling and assaulting the hapless young girl in an incident that has shocked the nation.

According to reports, the group of boys refer to themselves as “Mauto maForm 4 manyama” (soldiers of Form 4), a self-proclaimed gang name reportedly used to intimidate younger students.

In a heartbreaking detail, it is alleged that the assault was so traumatic the victim lost control of her bowels during the incident.

Mollay Fikhile Hungwe said, “This is a shocking event. Justice must be served, and the survivor should be put under counseling, as they have ruined her life and left her traumatized.”

The emotional and physical abuse depicted in the video has drawn condemnation from both the public and child rights organisations.

ZRP National Spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed that law enforcement has taken the matter seriously and dispatched a special team to investigate thoroughly.

“The ZRP has noted the viral incident involving school children and has initiated a full investigation. Arrests have been made and more details will be shared in due course,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

Authorities have been urged to ensure justice is served and for schools to strengthen mechanisms that protect students from bullying, sexual abuse, and peer victimisation.
