CHIREDZI-Greenfuel FC supporters are in jubilation after their side’s historic victory against Dynamos in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Gibo stadium last Saturday.
Dynamos started the match on fire as they threatened to take the game to the hosts, unfortunately their efforts counted for nothing as they failed to convert the chances that came their way.
It was however Greenfuel who almost went ahead in the 19th minute when Honest Moyo shot on target from more than 20 yards out was served by Prince Tafiremutsa.
There was a long pause after Boyz DzeNharo midfielder Bukhosi Sibanda had a head injury and was replaced by Aristotle Manyamba.
A penalty to Dynamos on the cusp of halftime almost costed Greenfuel as Honest Moyo challenged Emmanuel Jalai inside the box and the challenge was deemed a foul by experienced referee Brighton Chimene.
Dynamos wasted the chance as defender Donald Dzvinyai missed from the spot after another long delay as Dynamos captain Jalai needed medical attention on his leg.
Dembare had another chance to score but they were not clinical in front of goal as their striker shot over the bar from 6 yards after good work by Shandirwa who together with Donald Mudadi dominated the exchanges in the midfield.
In the 72th minute Nqobile Ndlovu scored to send the home side into frenzy as they celebrated a win against the most followed team in the country.
Second half substitute Issa Sadiki added firepower as the visitors looked to level scores but his rasping effort from outside the box was saved by Bizabani.
Greenfuel chairman Fredson Moyo was over the moon after a fantastic display by his team and heaped praise to the entire Greenfuel family for the job well done.
“This win is a historic win for us as Greenfuel, we knew Dynamos is a good team and we respect them but the boys matched them and it doesn’t just happen during the 90 minutes of matchday.
“There is a lot that happen behind closed doors, at training, keeping the boys psyched up and motivated. Special mention goes to our sponsor Conrad Billy Rautenbach for the commitment he has made to bring Premier League football to little known Chisumbanje as part of the socio-corporate responsibility.
“I also want to thank the entire technical team led by Rodwell Dhlakama, Greenfuel executive and supporters for teamwork as we continue to fight for our main goal which is to first remain in the Premier League and to be the best,” he said.
