MBERENGWA- Veteran educationist, Fredy Zingwe has been appointed as the head of Great Dyke AB Academy.

Zingwe, who boasts of a 31-year uninterrupted reign as the head at Chongogwe Secondary School, was formally introduced to parents of learners at the private primary school on Tuesday 14 February 2023.

The parents were joined at the event organised to officially welcome and introduce the veteran headmaster by the District Development Coordinator Vafios Hlavati. Zingwe taught Hlavati from form 2 to form 4.

Hlavati congratulated GreatDyke AB Academy for finding a resourceful asset like Zingwe. He assured the  parents that the school was in safe adding that he and one of the directors of the Academy were products of the new head.

The School Development Committe Chairperson, Timothy Msindazi said the GreatDyke AB Academy was steadily growing into a highly reputable school.

“We invited you parents to meet our new head and him meeting you also. Since the beginning we are growing bit by bit and its a good sign.

” Although Mberengwa turnoff is known for scarcity of water we are happy to tell you that we now have a steady supply of water at the school. In  a few days the school is going to have electricity.

“We thank our directors for sourcing computers and soon we will have a computer laboratory at the school. There are many projects we are pushing and by next year some will be completed,” said Msindazi.

GreatDyke AB Academy co-directors,  Anderson Tsikira and Banabas Marambire told the parents that since Zingwe had retired in the government they pleaded with him to join the school because of his experience and he is also a results oriented person. They added that they believed that Zingwe will take the school to greater heights and parents were urged to cooperate for smooth running of the school.

“Children were walking  long distances to school hence we thought of establishing an easily accessible school.  We have a government primary in Mberengwa but it’s densely populated.

“Years back there was an accident involving school children when they were going to Zvishavane and we trying by all means to bring the same quality education in Zvishavane closer home. We working hard with the head and our staff for excellent results in years to come,” said  Tsikira.
