ZVISHAVANE- The fifth edition of the Great Dyke Awards were held on Friday last week at Palawani Lake World Resort in Zvishavane to honor people who have excelled in various fields along the rich mineral corridor.

Hosted by YAFM, the event saw many people being honoured in more than 10 categories including business entrepreneurs, mining, education, health, insurance, sports, tourism, construction among others.
People from towns along the Great Dyke Geological region including Kadoma, Chegutu, Gweru, Kwekwe and Zvishavane were honoured.
Barnabas Marambire won the Businessman of The Year Award while Clever Anthony Pote and Chipazhamongo came second and third respectively.
Sheasham Construction Company was adjudicated as the Best Construction Company in the Great Dyke region while Barmlo and JM Construction were first and second runner ups.
Platinum mining giant, Mimosa Mining Company won the Best Mine of The Year Award while Unki Mine and Sabi Gold Mine came second and third respectively.
Anderson Tsikira was nominated as the winner under the Small -Scale Miners category.
In the sports category, Shabani FC scooped the best accolade while FC Platinum and Sheasham FC were first and second runner ups.
Under the small-scale retailer of the year award, Huruyadzo was voted the best while Isheanopa and Lios Uniforms emerged second and third.
Pick n Pay won the Large-Scale Retailer of The Year Award while Pote Supermarkets and Blue Roof came second and third respectively.
Sponsored by Mimosa Mining Company, the best banks and insurance award was won by ZB Bank while Cabs and FBC emerged as second and third winners.
In the transport sector, Inter-Africa won the best award while Makwenda and CAG were voted as first and second runner ups respectively.
Mimosa Mining Company scooped the Best Great Dyke Business of The Year Award while River Valley Properties and Pote Holdings emerged as second and third winners.
Under the Higher and Tertiary Education category, Zvishavane Vocational Training Centre emerged as the winner while Midlands State University and Great Zimbabwe University came second and third respectively.
Herentals College won the best Primary and Secondary Education award while Little Bees came second.
Chief Hwenje was voted as the Best Great Dyke Musician of The Year while Baba Gweru and Goda Moyo came second and third respectively.
Speaking at the ceremony, guest of honour, Mimosa Mining Company General Manager Stephen Ndiyamba said the Great Dyke Awards are a powerful tool to recognise the true pillars of the society.
