MBERENGWA- Mberengwa based ZIFA Midlands Province Division Two debutants, Great Dyke FC aka Serengeto Boys kept their spot at the summit of the log after claiming their fourth home victory of the season as they beat 13 Stars FC  3-0.
This breath taking match took place on Sunday (04.06.23) at Education Stadium in Mberengwa District.
Alexander Hall netted his third goal of the season, Nkala Charles and Louis Nyamadzawo also added their names on the scoresheet for the club to claim maximum points.
The result means they have 16 points from six matches a point above of second placed Black Eagles FC who have lost only one game with four wins including 1-0 win against Chachacha FC in their last encounter.
The result left the club manager, Ashel Gutu in cloud nine as his charges are yet to taste defeat in the unbranded league.
“I am naturally excited that the boys are raring to go and hope they keep the momentum and spirit. Our main target is Division One football next year.
“My desire is to have a well-wisher who would invest in the team so it reaches it’s potential in the same vain l would like to thank those that are currently making things happen as this is the only option we have and the boys are repaying the faith by those helping the club by winning matches which will motivate would be well-wishers”, he said.
The team’s performance has raised its status in the Mberengwa Community as it is now gaining support. Panashe Maphosa a community member situated in Yorks Mberengwa highlighted that the team is performing well and it’s lifting the Mberengwa flag high.
” When l first heard of the club l had doubts but now after seeing some of the matches l have seen it’s a good project that Mberengwa currently has.
“We are being entertained and getting value for our money and football is fast becoming popular in the community, we hope the team keeps winning so that next year it plays Division One football,” said Maphosa.
