MASVINGO-Collen Kumbirai Chiumburu (67) of Mapanga Village from Chief Mukanganwi in Bikita was killed by a swarm of bees at his homestead last Monday that were on a broken down tractor.
Chiumburu was pronounced dead upon admission at Bikita Hospital after being stung by a swarm of bees on a tractor that had broken down for over two years at his homestead.
Masvingo Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and said the family suspects no foul play on the death of their relative hence there was no postmortem was performed.

“The police at Bikita Station attended the scene and inspected the body. The deceased had swollen head and body wounds all over the body,” said Dhewa.
Dhewa told The Midweek that on April 10 around midday Chiumburu was behind the wheels of his tractor which was being pulled by his brother using a lorry since it had not been working for over two years.
Upon pressing on the gear suddenly a swarm of bees attacked him and he disembarked from the tractor and tried to run away but was bitten until the bees left on their own.
Although he was rushed to hospital, unfortunately he died upon admission.
