Graduation foiled as GZU student caged for sodomy

The much anticipated planned graduation for Political Science student, Taurai Chivandire has been derailed following his incarceration for aggravated indecent assault by Magistrate Innocent Bepura.

A Great Zimbabwe University student Chivandire (27) who was awaiting graduation, has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment after having anal sexual intercourse with a 10 year old boy (name withheld for ethical reasons).

It was the state case that Chivandire was a church mate of the complainant’s parents where he was being taken care of in Mucheke, Masvingo.

It is said that, sometime in April 2024, the accused retired to bed with the complainant, during that evening the complainant was awakened by the accused, who was inserting his erect penis into his anus.

Upon noticing that the complainant was awake, the accused closed the complainant’s mouth with his hand before wrapping it with a bandage, pinned the complainant and continued having anal intercourse with the complainant without his consent.

The accused threatened to kill the complainant if he ever tell anyone about the incident.

It is said that from that period extending from the month of April 2024 to the 19th of August 2025, the accused have anal intercourse with the complainant on diverse occasions without his consent.

The case came to light on the 19th of August 2025 after the complainant’s mother (name withheld) entered the room and discovered that the accused was having anal intercourse with the complainant.

A report was made to ZRP Chikato on 22nd of August 2025, leading to the arrest of the accused.
