Gold dealers lose US$15k to robbers

MUTARE-Three suspected gold buyers lost US$15 000 cash and 20 grams of gold to five armed robbers in Mberi Village, Mutasa on Monday

Police in Penhalonga have since launched a manhunt for the gang and are appealing for information which may assist in the arrest of the robbers.

Circumstances are that the yet to be identified robbers pounced and attacked the gold buyers with machetes before stealing US$15 000 cash, 20 grams of gold and various clothes.

The suspects then fled from the scene using one of the complainants’ car, a White Nissan Serena vehicle registration number AFY 4673.

Police said the vehicle was loaded with 10×50 kilogrammes of maize.

The complainants sustained varying injuries and were referred to Victoria Chitepo Hospital in Mutare City for treatment.
