GOKWE-Police have arrested Rutendo Shayanewako (25) suspected to be mentally challenged for murder charges.
Shayanewako allegedly killed a one-year-old boy by slitting his throat in broad daylight using a kitchen knife
The harrowing incident occurred on September 1, 2024, at around 11 am in Thandiwe Bheura kitchen under the jurisdiction of Chief Sai.
The Midlands Province police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that the child’s grandmother, Bheura, attempted to intervene and restrain Shayanewako during the brutal incident.
However, her efforts were in vain, as Shayanewako had already inflicted a severe wound on the child’s throat, resulting in significant blood loss and the demise of the child at the scene.
Shayanewako is currently held in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
