GOKWE -The ZRP is investigating a suspected murder case where Tinashe Chakanyuka was found hanging on the roof trusses at a girlfriend’s house.
Midlands police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident that occurred on the 7th of May 2023 at around 0430am at Huni compound, Zenda mining area under Chief Chireya in Gokwe Nembudziya.
Insp Mahoko said Chakanyuka and Josephine Nyama are alleged to have had a dispute over an undisclosed issue and ended up fighting.
“Josephine claims to have at one point fell unconscious and while in that state, Tinashe took his life by hanging himself with a rope right in the room.
“Upon gaining consciousness, Josephine discovered the body hanging on the roof trusses,” he said.
In an unrelated incident, a 52-year old man was arrested on allegations of killing his neighbor after accusing him for preparing charcoal in his field.
Deans Machimbira of Musingarimi Village under the same Chieftainship in Gokwe allegedly murdered Munemo Alex Vurayayi (75) after attacking him on the head using booted feet.
The incident occurred the same week at around 10am.
Insp Mahoko told The Midweek Watch that Vurayayi was cutting firewood at his homestead when he was approached by Machimbira.
He added that “a misunderstanding arose which escalated into a fight where the two wrestled each other”.
“It is alleged that Machimbira shoved Munemo Vurayayi to the ground and kicked him on the head with booted feet. After committing the offence the suspect left Munemo Vurayayi lying on the ground,” said Insp Mahoko.
Insp Mahoko added that Vurayayi later died at his homestead.
He said a report was made at ZRP Nembudziya who attended the scene and the deceased’ s body was taken to Gokwe South District Hospital.
Mahoko urged members of the public to desist from resorting to violence when solving disputes.
