MASVINGO-Rujeko motorists have known no peace in the past two months as a female ghost is flagging down vehicles and vanish along the way after being given a ride, sending them into panic mode, The Midweek Watch can exclusively reveal.

The ghost is said to be operating during the night between Rovambira Street and Ingwe Drive in Rujeko B, Masvingo City.

Several taxi drivers have claimed to have had an encounter with the ghost.

The ghost has been the talk of Rujeko suburb with several versions coming from different people who claim to have had an encounter with the white garment wearing night woman.

Some say the ghost was a maid who used to work at a house near Rujeko B Shopping Centre and died in mysterious circumstances and has returned to haunt those who caused her death.

Others told The Midweek Watch that the ghost is that of a former thigh vendor who has found no rest in the grave and has returned to continue with her trade after death, an argument bolstered by the ghost’s love for flashy cars.

At one time the ghost is said the have asked a vendor at the shops to take firewood that he was selling to a house where she used to work as a maid and upon delivery, he was told that the person that sent him died some years back.

Children residing along Rovambira Street are now afraid of playing outside in fear of coming into contact with the ghost.

Zimbabwe National Traditional Healers Association (ZINATHA) Masvingo Provincial chairman, Proper Dohwai aka Sekuru Mhofu confirmed to The Midweek Watch the existence of the ghost.

“Yes, I have heard about the ghost which is tormenting motorists in Rujeko and my advice to the family is to appease the roving spirit which must be made to rest for ever.

“Most likely, mukadzi uyu akafa anezvinyunyuto, so, the family has to go to her grave and request for her soul to rest or attack whoever killed her.

“In our culture we believe that the dead have ears hence my advice to the family to talk to her at her graveside,” said Sekuru Mhofu.

Apostle Phillip Dube of Prayer Time Churches in Zimbabwe said, the ghost could be of a person killed for purposes of making money or modern preachers who go to the extend of killing people to attract congregants to their churches.

“The ghost could be as a result of rituals gone wrong, the woman could have been killed for purposes of making money and the person responsible has breached some protocols prescribed and the avenging spirit is now tormenting the perpetrators,” said Apostle Dube.

He added that what needs to be done is to pray and appease the spirit of the deceased.

Masvingo Province police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa told The Midweek Watch that he is yet to get a report about the issue, but promised to find out from the Rujeko Base if they have any reports about the ghost.
