GWERU-This year’s edition of the Midlands Agricultural Show will be held from July 20 to 23 and more than 200 exhibitors are expected to showcase their services and products, The Midweek Watch can reveal.
The four day annual show, which is traditionally held in August, will be run under the theme “collaborative, integrative solutions for economic development”.
This year’s show was moved to July due to the harmonised elections scheduled to take place on August 23, Midlands Show Society chairperson, Augustine Mpakurirwa told the media in a press briefing last Tuesday evening.
Mpakurirwa emphasized the importance of the agricultural show to the country’s economic development as it gives exhibitors a rare opportunity to market their products and create linkages.
“The show is about bringing in business people to collaborate and interact as well as sharing ideas. As the show society, we would like to also urge businesses and stakeholders to work together, creating linkages and developing the country,” he said.
The official opening of the show will be held on Saturday July 22, although the guest of honor is yet to be confirmed.
The organizers have also billed …aka Freeman as the guest artist at the premier provincial annual business extravaganza alongside local musicians.
“Major highlights of this year’s show include the business day on the 20th where business stands will be judged, followed by the business conference on the 21st where reputable business presenters deliver business ideas which are of immense benefit to stakeholders. The exhibitors’ reception creates an atmosphere for networking,” said Mpakurirwa.
This year’s agricultural show comes on the backdrop of a 2022 bumper harvest where the country attained food self sufficiency in as many years.
