During the inaugural commissioning of the partnership, Altcom donated over 50 by 200 litres drums waste bins to the local authority, demonstrating their commitment to proper waste disposal and reducing illegal dumping.

Gweru’s Deputy Mayor, Nyaradzo Madzikura, praised the collaboration as a remarkable act of corporate social responsibility by Altcom Logistics to enhance clean cities.

“Altcom’s donation is a shining example of corporate social responsibility in action. It shows that businesses can play a vital role in supporting local initiatives and contributing to the well-being of the communities they serve,” Madzikura remarked.

She added that this contribution will undoubtedly enhance waste management in the city, promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for all residents.

The Ward 9 councilor emphasized that “proper waste management is crucial for maintaining public health, preserving our environment, and fostering a sense of community pride.”

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Altcom, stating that their generosity showcases a deep understanding of the importance of partnering with local authorities to drive positive change.

Altcom Logistics Director, Tafadzwa Moyo, stated that the company is committed to both progress and community.

“Having established a shop and factory right here in Gweru, we are proud to extend our commitment beyond business and contribute meaningfully to the city’s well-being.

“Today’s event comes on the heels of the national clean-up day—an occasion that reminds us all of the collective responsibility we have in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of our surroundings,” Moyo said.

The partnership between Altcom and the local authority sets a positive precedent for other organizations, as collaborative efforts between the private sector and local government drive meaningful development.

In 2023, President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched a “No Compromise to Service Delivery” initiative and “A Call to Action” blueprint aimed at enhancing service delivery in local authorities.
