Zvishavane –  Shabanie Mine Fc this week  received a shot in the arm after the son of  former club legend  Willian Banda, Peter Banda donated a kit to the club.

Peter Banda, is the son of former Mandava United, Ziscosteel, and Shabanie mine midfielder, William Banda who played for these clubs in the yesteryears.

Speaking on the presentation of the kits on behalf of  Peter, Benjamin Banda who is uncle to Peter said the gesture behind the kits was meant to promote peace in the city as well as uplifting Shabanie Mine to its former glory.

Shabanie FC which are affectionately known as Chinda Boys have had a poor start to the season.

Currently they sit at the bottom of the Ruvimbo Funeral ZIFA Central Region Soccer League log after having played seven games with no scores.

“We grew up on the other side of Zvishavane in Mandava and there was a great rivalry between Mandava United and Shabanie mine.

“So, this is just our way of thanking the community that nurtured us and showing them that we have not abandoned them.

“Our goal is to assist the team in any way possible so that it can return back to its former days as one of the best teams in the country.

” We urge other business people in the town to also chip in and assist the boys,” he added
