MASVINGO CITY-Ambitious Masvingo based Division One side, FC Wangu Mazodze has unveiled a revamped technical team as preparations intensify for the 2026 Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League season.

The 2026 season kicks off on March 21 2026.

The club has appointed Elisha Mukusha as the new Head Coach, spokesperson Courage Kandira confirmed.

Mukusha’s appointment brings renewed optimism to the Zhalala Zhululu faithful, as the club is affectionately known among it’s legion of supporters.

Mukusha joins Zhalala Zhululu from Shamva FC, a Northern Region Division 2 outfit where he was credited with building a competitive squad and displaying strong tactical discipline.

Describing the appointment as ‘a new beginning,’ the club expressed confidence that Mukusha will guide the team towards its long term goal, which is promotion to the Premier Soccer League.

Mukusha will be assisted by Martin Nyanzira while Rowland Makiwa takes up the role of Assistant Technical Manager.

A fans favourite, Makiwa is a former FC Wangu Mazodze striker and has also turned out for Masvingo United, Triangle United and Great Zimbabwe University FC.

His return is widely seen as a morale booster and a signal of the club’s intent to blend loyalty with experience.

Kandira told The Midweek Watch that the new technical team is ready for the 2026 season.

“The new technical team is geared up to take the pitch by storm. With their expertise, we’re expecting better results and an unforgettable experience,” said Kandira.

Kandira added that the club has finalized the date for player trials which is on 13 January at Kingdom House at team proprietor Richard Mazodze’s homestead in Chiwawa village, Masvingo Rural and registration has already begun for interested players.

Mukusha could not reveal his plans to the fans as club spokesperson said they are not yet sanctioned to talk to the press.

The trio is expected to hit the ground running as pre season training begins with the team aiming to build on last season’s momentum and mount a strong challenge for top honours.

With the 2026 campaign dubbed “Gore Rekuona Makumbo eMabhora” fans are hopeful that the new coaching setup will deliver both exciting and result oriented football.
