MASVINGO-The Pacific Storm Eastern Region Soccer League has resolved to include FC Wangu Mazodze as the 20th team in the 2026 season fixtures after the club fulfilled part of its financial obligations to the league.

Eastern Region Soccer League Chairperson, Wisdom Simba, said the decision was reached after the club apologized for delaying its payment and later complied with the league’s requirements.

“The league resolved to include FC Wangu Mazodze on the fixture as the 20th team. The position was reached after FC Wangu Mazodze wrote to the league apologizing for the delay in fulfilling their obligation and they then made the payment as per the meeting resolution,” said Simba.

Meanwhile, the league has cancelled the proposed season opener match between Bikita Minerals and Tenax CS FC and will instead host a cocktail event for clubs’ chairpersons as part of preparations for the new season.

“The proposed season opener is no longer going to take place. We resolved with the sponsor to do it differently as last season we opened with a soccer match,” Simba said.

“This time around we are going to have a cocktail to be attended by all the clubs’ chairpersons. The cocktail is scheduled to take place at the end of March at a venue to be decided by both parties and preparations are currently underway.”

Simba also confirmed that the league will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 14 at Montclair Hotel and Casino.

“We are going to have our AGM on the 14th of March at Montclair Hotel in Nyanga where we are going to discuss, among other issues, the financial statements, the 2026 budget as well as confirmation of the new members by the congress,” he said.

The 2026 ZIFA Eastern Region Soccer League season is set to kick off on the weekend of March 21–22, with teams already conducting player registrations.

“The league kicks off on the weekend of 21–22 March and I can confirm that all is set. The teams have started registrations and by the time we get to that date all the teams will have registered and be ready to kick off,” Simba said.
