ZVISHAVANE- Reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions, FC Platinum walloped Herentals FC 2-0 in a match played at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane on Saturday.
Second half goals from Juan Mutudza and Thandolenkosi Ngwenya saw Maplatso claim all three points in a game that was dubbed the battle of Mandava as the two clubs use the same stadium as their home ground.
FC Platinum are chasing a record fifth title but are currently trailing log leaders with eight points and the win was a huge step in closing the gap as they are now on 40 points from 24 games.
However, with Ngezi Platinum Stars winning 3-0 over ZPC Kariba the gap remains the same.
Coach Norman Mapeza expressed satisfaction with the boys’ performance against the Students.
