ZVISHAVANE- Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Zvishavane side FC Platinum was adjudged the First Runner Up winner under the Soccer Team of The Year category, sponsored by YA FM at the just ended Great Dyke Awards held at Palawani Lake World Resort.
The award, which recognises excellence in the sport field, saw Shabani Mine FC named the winner while Sheasham FC took the Second Runner Up position.
Speaking to The Midweek Watch after receiving the accolade, FC Platinum Brand Ambassador Goda Moyo said the award reflects the team’s commitment to transforming lives and communities.
“I want to express my profound gratitude for this development. FC Platinum is one of the teams which won the Premier Soccer League for four consecutive times outside Harare and Bulawayo.
“The team works with the community and as its brand ambassador, I want to thank the whole management for working with the community and for promoting young talent in the Midlands province.
“We are happy that when the team plays at the CAF championships, it will raise the Zimbabwean flag high,” he said.
Speaking at the ceremony, guest of honour, Mimosa Mining Company General Manager Stephen Ndiyamba said the Great Dyke Awards are a powerful tool to recognise the true pillars of the society.
“The Great Dyke Awards are Powerful because they honour the true pillars of our society: the innovators in business, the stars of music, the guardians of our education, the sporting champions and the pioneers in mining and transport.
“The event is a true testament to the collective heartbeat of our community. It reminds us that every sector, every dream, and every effort is a critical thread in the vibrant fabric of the Great Dyke.
“At Mimosa, we understand that true wealth isn’t just measured in minerals, but in the talent, resilience, and spirit of our people. The discipline required to excel in mining is the same discipline that drives a student to achieve top marks, an athlete to break records, and an entrepreneur to build an empire,” he said.
