SPORTS REPORTER

ZVISHAVANE-Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions, FC Platinum put their league woes aside to go through to the next round of the Chibuku Super Cup competition, after they dismantled Yadah Stars FC 4-0 at Mandava Stadium yesterday.

The Pure Platinum Play had a flawless display, which the Miracle Boys failed to respond to. The 2021 Chibuku Super Cup winners got their goals through man of the match, Walter Musona and Juan Mutudza. Musona who was in a devastating form got a hat trick, with Mutudza weighing in with a goal.

Yadah huffed and puffed but they were totally outclassed by the marauding home team. They could not replicate the form they had exhibited on the 15th of July 2023, when they shocked all and sundry by inflicting FC Platinum’s first home defeat in as amny games.

The last time the Zvishavane platinum miners had lost at home was when they fell 0-1 to Ngezi Platinum on the 19th of March 2022.

Yadah’s victory seemed to have cast a bad spell on the champions, as they later went on to lose two more games at home. They lost with an identical 1-2 scoreline to Sheasham FC and Simba Bhora FC respectively.

However, the champions were in a no nonsense mood as they demolished an out of sorts Yadah FC to advance to the quarter finals of the richest knock out competition.

Coach, Norman Mapeza was convinced with the win and hope more wins come as the play was flawless.

Other teams through to the next round are Chicken Inn, Black Rhinos and Ngezi Platinum Stars and Dynamos who went past Simba Bhora.

Today there are three other Chibuku Super Cup first round matches.

Highlanders clash against Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields stadium.

While Caps United entertain Hwange at Bata stadium and Herentals College facing off against ZPC Kariba at Mandava stadium.
